Biography

Lee L. Piovarcy, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Martin Tate, is a trial attorney specializing in complex cases involving Transportation, Products Liability, Professional Negligence, and Commercial Litigation.  A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Vanderbilt Law School, Lee acted as Outside Litigation General Counsel for MS Carriers, Inc., a publicly traded motor carrier with 5,000 power units until it merged with Swift Transportation in 2001.  In such capacity, Lee tried to verdict numerous cases throughout the country, most notably in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Illinois.  He has been recognized by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in Tennessee in commercial and transportation litigation.

Lee served as President of the Trucking Industry Defense Association for two (2) years and was on its Board of Directors for nine (9) years.

In the practice areas of product liability, commercial litigation and professional negligence, he has made new law in Tennessee in the case of Davis v. Komatsu, Am. Indus. Corp. No. 99-5788, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, 2000 U.S. App. Lexis 15382, June 9, 2000 and Hataway v. McKinley, S/C No. 30, Supreme Court of Tennessee, at Jackson, 830 S.W.2d 53; 1992 Tenn. LEXIS 313, April 27, 1992.

Lee is active in the USLaw Network where he has made presentations to members and clients in the practice areas of transportation, products liability and professional negligence.

Lee was a member of Notre Dame’s National Alumni Board of Directors and is currently an advisor to the Notre Dame Law Association Board of Directors. 

Lee served his country as an Army Captain on active duty from 1966-68.
