Liz Keough is a Director with Martin, Tate, Morrow & Marston, P.C., having joined the firm in 2000. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University in 1992, and received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Memphis in 1995. While in law school, Liz was awarded American Jurisprudence Awards in Evidence and Trial Advocacy. She served as an Associate Justice of the Moot Court and was a member of the National Moot Court and National Mock Trial teams in 1994 and 1995, respectively.

Liz has had a varied practice throughout her career and has gained experience in a multitude of areas. Currently, she practices in the area of commercial law with an emphasis in real estate, general business law, commercial litigation and tax incentive work.

Tax Incentives
Liz has developed a specialty in the area of tax incentive work, working with the firm's Economic Development Section with the payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) programs of the Shelby County, Tennessee Industrial Development Boards. Real Estate and Lending
Liz is experienced in negotiating and drafting lease, management and development agreements and working with local counsel on various litigation matters. She worked with a team of lawyers on the formation of a real estate investment trust involving the transfer of 16 entities and 5 apartment complexes in 15 states through loan assumptions, payoffs and defeasance. She has experience in bond financed transactions, as well as commercial loans and real estate deals including loan assumptions and 1031 Exchanges.

Community and Legal Activities
Liz is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Memphis Bar Association and served on the Boards of the Young Lawyers Division of the Memphis Bar Association and the Association for Women Attorneys, in addition to serving on various committees over the years. Currently, Liz is the Co-Chair of the Publications Committee and writes for the Memphis Lawyer, the magazine of the Memphis Bar Association. She is also a member of the Tennessee and American Bar Associations and a graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law class of 2008. Liz is the author of The Weakest Link: Application of the Property Damage Statute of Limitation to Tort Claims for Purely Economic Damages, 32 U. Mem. L. Rev. 45 (Fall 2001) and developed the program materials for seminars featuring firm attorneys for the commercial real estate community, including, The PILOT Program, Need to Know Basics (2004) and How to Broker the Best Deal, From the Lawyers Perspective (2005).

As a native Memphian, Liz has been involved in several community organizations. She served on the Board of Directors of Ballet Memphis and founded the Young Patrons of Ballet Memphis. She was also a member of the Junior League of Memphis from 1995 to 2004 and served as the Editor and Publisher of Volunteer Voices, the magazine of the Junior League of Memphis. Liz is a charter member and former board member of the Grand Krewe of Ptolemy, an organization associated with Carnival Memphis. She also served as a Junior Member Representative for the University Club of Memphis. Liz is a member of Grace St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
