Brian Miller Nominated to Federal Court
Bench
(October 16, 2007/Little Rock, Arkansas)
The White House announced the nomination of former Martin Tate
attorney and Arkansas Court of Appeals Judge Brian Miller to the
United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas
today. Judge Miller would replace George Howard, Jr., who died in
April and was the first African-American federal judge in
Arkansas.
United States Senator Blanche Lambert (D-Ark)
released a statement today stating that she was "proud to support
Judge Brian Miller’s nomination to the U.S. District Court for the
Eastern District of Arkansas. Having both grown up in Helena, I
have known Judge Miller and his family all of my life and have
seen their contributions to the community firsthand. . . . I
believe Judge Miller is well-qualified to fill the important
judicial post vacated by Judge Howard. Arkansans are well-served
by this nomination, and I look forward to introducing Judge Miller
to my Senate colleagues and working toward his confirmation."
Judge Miller practiced law in Martin Tate’s Memphis, Tennessee and
Helena, Arkansas offices from his graduation from Vanderbilt Law
School in 1996 to his appointment to the Arkansas Court of Appeals
in 2007. While at Martin Tate, Judge Miller had a distinguished
legal career focusing on litigation. |
